Get Rid Of Procrastination And Build Your Online Business Better And Faster!

08 Nov

Want to work only 4 hours a day?

No problem! There’s no doubt about it. With a well-built online business, you can fill your bank account with cold hard cash faster than a 9-to-5 would.

But (and it’s a big ‘but’), buying that magnificent house big enough for 3 families; getting that car that will make your friends drool; unwinding on a beautiful vacation; and more through internet marketing will only be possible if…

You Are Productive And Manage Your Time Well!

And this is where most online business owners and internet marketers fail big time! They spend long hours in front of the computer without getting anything done (I once belong to this category). They sit down with the intent of publishing a new post, tweaking their sales copy, or driving MORE traffic to their site. But at the end of the day, all they do is surf aimlessly on the information highway.

Countless internet marketers and online business owners are victims of the dreaded disease called PROCRASTINATION.

Procrastination (Definition): To delay needlessly or irrationally. To replace high priority actions with low priority tasks.

Yes, there are online business-related activities or tasks that you need to set aside for the time being. But delaying irrationally…replacing important tasks with not-so-important ones will get you nowhere fast!

Know HOW You Procrastinate

Knowing HOW you procrastinate is VERY important in curing yourself of this disease. Although knowing the reasons WHY you procrastinate is also essential, realizing how you procrastinate is far more important.

By using your awareness of the negative habits and patters you’ve formed unconsciously through the years, you can redirect your energy to form positive habits.

To tweak and optimize your performance and output for your internet marketing biz, you should identify how you go about doing anything. After identifying certain negative behaviors you have and analyzing them in-depth, you can use their onset to channel your energy towards worthwhile goals.

In simpler terms, know the “HOW” of procrastination is the first step to being productive.

The First Step

The first essential step is very easy. No, you don’t need to write “I will spend my time productively” a thousand times on a notebook. No, you won’t have to create a detailed or 50-step process for productivity. No, you don’t have to do self-hypnosis (and weird yourself in the process) or repeat affirmations ‘til they sound like a broken record.

What you need to do is grab a pen and notebook, and for the next 3 to 7 days, procrastinate just like you always do. Go about your day the way you would…the only difference is that you have to write down your activities, when you do them, and how much time you spend on them.

Don’t analyze or judge your behavior and habits during the 3 to 7-day period. Just be aware of your current behavior and habits.

Why Procrastinating Some More And Observing It Is Crucial

By keeping detailed logs of your daily activities, you will gain more insight and, eventually, control of where your time goes.

After the 3 day period, you will be astonished at how much time goes into Facebooking, commenting on forum posts, mindless chit-chatting with friends, aimless surfing, and a host of other not-so-important activities.

MORE importantly, after analyzing the 3 to 7-day log you have created, you will see what triggers procrastination.

You might realize (like me) that taking a look at your email or checking out something online before your necessary morning rituals (breakfast, bath, etc.) will lead to an unproductive day.

Perhaps you will observe that whenever you sit down and open your browser, you tend to type-in “Facebook.com” on the address bar instead of updating your blog.

When you gain such insights, when you are aware of how you procrastinate and what triggers them, you will be ready to redirect your time and energy to something worthwhile the next time you sit down to work on your online business.

So don’t delay! Procrastinate some more, list your activities down, and make that first step towards being productive.

Ross, my favorite line is at the end “So don’t delay! Procrastinate some more, list your activities down, and make that first step towards being productive.”

    Made me laugh out loud.

And, it’s a great article too. I find that I procrastinate, then wonder why things are getting done.

I’m making progress and getting more done. The first thing I had to do was admit that I had a problem with it.

    Nice article, thanks!

    Josh

Haha, thanks for the reply Josh. I’m guilty as well, no doubt about it. Have a great day bud. :)
